Appointment Scheduling

We require all undergraduate English majors and minors to schedule at least one advising appointment before scheduling classes for the next semester.  With over 900 English majors and minors, advising appointments fill quickly.  For this reason, you must call at least two weeks in advance of your registration appointment to set up a time for advising.  You should check your registration appointment through Testudo. To setup an advising appointment, call 301-405-3825 or stop by 1128 Tawes.  You can choose to schedule an appointment with a specific advisor, or by the appointment time that works best for your schedule.  If you'd like to choose a specific advisor, visit our Advisor Profiles.

Check-list for your mandatory advising appointment:

Call 301-405-3825 for an appointment. Call at least two weeks prior to your registration date as spots fill-up quickly.

  1. Prepare for your appointment by reviewing English Department course descriptions online and choosing courses of interest.
  2. Prepare for your appointment by reviewing the University, College of Arts and Humanities, and English major or minor requirements.
  3. Keep your file up-to-date; bring your English advisor an updated copy of your Arts and Humanities requirements sheet.
  4. Advising time is valuable. Please notify our office at 301-405-3825 if you cannot keep your appointment. You will still need to meet with an English advisor before you can register.  Your advising block will not be removed until you meet with an advisor.  Advising cannot be conducted by telephone or via e-mail.
