Submissions

The editors and the board welcome submissions of scholarly and critical essays. Submissions should contribute to our understanding of English literature and culture, 1660-1700.

While preferring essays of 5000-7500 words (including notes), the editorial board will evaluate essays of any length. Restoration encourages submissions from scholars at the beginnings of their careers; however, seminar papers, conference presentations, and dissertation chapters should be revised to conform to the expectations of an academic essay.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically using the form below. Manuscripts should conform to University of Chicago style 16th edition (notes and bibliograhy), be double-spaced throughout, and avoid all authorial self-reference.  A quick guide to Chicago Style is found here.  We follow Garner's Modern English Usage for style. [Note: Issues of Restoration through 40.2 used MLA instead of Chicago Style].

Restoration also seeks compilers for the annotated listing, "Some Current Publications." Those interested should email us at restorationjournal@umd.edu. Advanced graduate students are especially encouraged to contact us about this project.

****If the submission portal doesn't work for you (some problems have been reported), then please email youur submissions to restorationjournal@umd.edu and include the information requested on this page.****
